November the 10th,2019,would be a day never to forget in the footballing world,as it saw the best teams in England, square each other up,in a mouth-watering derby.
The men from Anfield played host to their fierce rival,Manchester City,in what was to be a battle of the tables. Liverpool went into this encounter, highly motivated with a 6 points lead, against rivals Man.City. Hoping to reduce the gap between both teams,Guardiola hoped for a positive result and outcome from the fixture.
The first 45 minutes began in an explosive manner,as it saw both teams in a frenzy mode. It was Liverpool who made first impression, with a stunning long range volley from midfielder and Brazilian,Fabinho,at the early minutes of the game, which meant the Liverpool went 1 goal ahead in the 6th minute of the game.
Although, the build-up to the goal itself was controversial,as Manchester City were furious as to why the referee failed to award a penalty in favor of them. This was due to the fact that an alleged hand-ball was committed by a Liverpool player, within the Liverpool 18yrd box but,the referee thought otherwise and let the game continue which eventually led to the first goal.
Barely 7 minutes after the first goal, more woes were added to the insults of the visitors. A very powerful counter-attack led by Liverpool, with left-back Andy Robertson taking charge of the assault, which led to a very fabulous cross into the opponents’ 18yrd box. Eventually,Mohammed Sallah was at the right place,at the right time,to convert it into the second goal of the game,in favor of Liverpool.
With further assaults by both teams, with Liverpool having much of the possession to themselves, the first 45 minutes came to an end eventually, with Liverpool leading by 2 goals to nil.
The second 45 minutes also began with the same ferociousness as witnessed within the first 45 minutes and,it took barely 6 minutes into the game when Liverpool added the third goal of the game. It took a brilliant cross from skipper,Jordan Henderson, right into the 18yrd box, where Sadio Mane was on stand-by to provide a perfect heading into the back of the net.
Nevertheless, there was a sort of plot twist to the whole game, when Man.City’s left-back,Angelino,put a low-cross into the 18yrd box of Liverpool, which found its way onto the strong left foot of Bernardo Silva, who didn’t hesitate to convert it into an astounding goal,at the 78th minute of the goal.
The game came to an end, with Liverpool extending there remarkable run this season. Liverpool has played 12 games, with 11 wins and a single draw, which came against Manchester United,at Old Trafford. This means that Liverpool now sits on top of the Table, with 34 points and,Manchester City moving to the 4th spot on the table, with 25 points.
Manchester City would be hoping to bounce back against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, after the international break.
