UEFA Champions’ League : Fixtures and Results


Wednesday the 6th of November,was another day and round for the most watched footballing competition in the world,talking about the UEFA Champions’ League. The Wednesday night fixtures,saw some fascinating encounters among the elite soccer clubs across the various European Leagues.

First on our list is Paris Saint-Germain welcoming Club Brugge,to the Parc de Princes stadium. In a fairly contested match which saw just a single goal by the home team,through the former Inter Milan striker,Mauro Icardi. This victory puts PSG on top of the group,with 12 points,having won all 4 games.

Also,in same group A with PSG,is the Spanish giant,Real Madrid,who also on Wednesday,welcomed Galatasaray to the Santiago Bernabeu. In a fixture that was nourished with goals,nevertheless,it was all one sided. the first 45 minutes saw four goals scored by the Galacticos.

The 4th minute of the game,saw the first goal from Rodrygo and,he doubled the lead for the Galacticos with his second goal of the game just 3 minutes after his first. It didn’t take long before skipper of the team,Sergio Ramos,scored from the penalty spot,to make it 3-0 in favor to Madrid,before Karim Benzema made it 4-0,at the 45th minute of the first half. The second 45 minutes also saw 2 more goals from the Galacticos,with Benzema getting his second of the day and,Rodrygo get his third and hat-trick of the game. This leaves Madrid on the second position on the table,with just 7 points and 5 points behind table leaders,PSG.

In group B,FC Bayern Munchen filed out against visitors from the ancient country of Greece,Olypiacos,at the Allianz Arena. It was also a fairly contested match,which saw FC Bayern Munchen winning by 2 goals to nil,with goals from Robert Lewandowski and Ivan Perisic,at the 69th and 79th minutes respectively. FC Bayern Munchen are currently on a maximum of 12 points out of 4 game.

Also in group B,Tottenham Hotspur paid a visit to the Stadion Rajko Mitic,home of FC Crevena Zvezda. In a one-sided game,the visitor successfully put 4 goals at the back of the net,with goals coming from Giovani Lo Celso at the 34th minute,a brace from Heung Min-Son in the 57th and 61st minutes and,Christian Eriksen in the 85th minute of the game. Tottenham Hotspur currently sit on the second position in group B,with 7 points,and 5 points behind table leaders,FC Bayern Munchen.

In group C,Atalanta welcomed English champions,Manchester City,to the Italian stadium of San Siro. A very keenly contested match,saw both teams play out a 1-1 draw,with goals from Raheem Sterling of Man.City scoring at the 7th minute and,Mario Pasalic equalizing for Atalanta,at the 49th minute of the game. Manchester City are on top and in control of the group standings,with a total of 10 points.

Dynamo Zagreb also welcomed Shakhtar Donetsk to the Stadion Maksimir on Wednesday night,in a tightly contested match,that ended in a 6-goal fiesta,which ended 3-3,with 4 of the goals miraculously coming within the last 10 minutes of the game. However,this draw leaves both teams,with 5 points each,with Shakhtar Donetsk in 2nd position.

In group D,Locomotiv Moscow played host to Italian giants,Juventus,at the RZD Arena. A game that ended 1-2 in favor of the visitors,Juventus,with goals coming from Aaron Ramsey and Douglas Costa at the 4th and 90th minutes respectively for the visitors,and a goal by Aleksey Miranchuk at the 12th minute for Locomotiv Moscow. Juventus tops the table with 10 points.

Finally,Bayern Leverkusen welcomed Spanish giant,Atletico Madrid,at the BayArena. The home team snatched their first win for the on-going UEFA Champions’ League campaign,with a 2-1 win. This leaves Atletico Madrid in 2nd position on the tables,with 7 points,and 3 points behind table leaders,Juventus.
