Unlike some players with duo nationalities,Fikayo’s parents lived and married in Nigeria, before they left for Canada, where they conceived Fikayo shortly after their arrival.

Fikayo, who lived his early childhood life in Canada soon had a change of environment, when his parent decided to relocate to another country. This time,London,England was their destination. This single act was the turning point needed for young Fikayo to actualize his dream of been a soccer player.

In London,Fikayo was enrolled by his parent into a school, which presented to him,an opportunity to play competitive soccer games during sports period. This was in year 2014.

Shortly after that, his interest for a profession in soccer grew exceedingly, which made him pursue a place within Chelsea FC Academy, where he was put on trials before he was eventually selected into the academy. He,alongside teammate and best friend,Tammy Abraham were quickly deployed into the Under-8 category, where they successfully navigated themselves in to the youth cadre of Chelsea.

In the years of 2015 and 2016,Fikayo assisted the Chelsea youth team in securing back-to-back triumphs in both the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup where he scored in both finals and was eventually named the 2016 Player of The Year for Chelsea FC Academy.

It is quite worthy to note that he also assisted England in winning the FIFA Under-20 World Cup,which was the first in history England would be winning such.

Later on,Tomori would be loaned out to Derby County, which was under manager and former Chelsea and England midfield maestro,Frank Lampard. In Derby County,he wasted no time in proving his worth,as he helped the team reach the play-off final of the Championship. Due to his stellar performance,he was named Derby County’s Player of The Year,on his first season with club.

Eventually, with the emergence of Frank Lampard as the new Chelsea manager,it did not take quite long before Fikayo reunited with his boss back at Stanford Bridge. So far so good,Fikayo has been proving his worth for the senior team of Chelsea FC,as he quietly establishing a name for himself. With a goal to his name already in the EPL,it’s only a matter of time before he cements his name as a regular full-back starter for the Blues outfit.

He was invited by the Three Lions’ head coach Gareth Southgate, for the English game against Czech Republic but was left on the bench. This signifies that he still has a chance to feature and play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
